Have you ever felt that you are capable of so much more than what you’re doing now? Unfortunately, it is more common than not to find people dissatisfied with their lives. Our culture is all about creating a safe and easy life, we don’t like challenging ourselves. Unfortunately, this leaves us with a lot of hidden potential still locked up inside us.
Get to know yourself. Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses. These should be made with input from friends and family who may be able to give a more objective view of yourself. Overcome your character flaws but acknowledge your positive traits, this will help build up your self-esteem, a key component to tapping your inner potential and bringing out your true power.
Never stop learning. Start reading books and blogs about tapping your potential, attend seminars with like-minded individuals, or talk to people who inspire you. Mentors are everywhere, you only have to look.
Create both short-term and long-term goals to improve yourself. Be very specific and visualise the outcome to motivate you to work towards achieving them.
Keep a list of your successes, no matter how big or small. Failures can crush your confidence, leaving us unable to go on but a list of your successes will help remind you what you have achieved so far. Note down all your accomplishments, even something like parallel parking on your first attempt or completing all the tasks in your to-do list.
Set your own benchmark. Don’t compare yourself to other people but focus on what you can do to improve yourself. Be proud of yourself if you’re making progress. Keep moving forward; keep growing and you will continually impress yourself. Remember it is about unleashing the power within yourself and not measuring up against other peoples’ accomplishments.
You have consistently challenged yourself; you have learnt to take risks. Persistence is now the key to tying everything together to reach your full potential. Without persistence, your life will be full of could haves and should haves.
Without persistence, you will never have given yourself the opportunity to follow through and achieve success. A person with little inherent ability but who has incredibly persistent will definitely surpass someone who has natural talent but no persistence. Make persistence a priority, and you will allow yourself the opportunity to unleash your hidden potential.
Continuous effort, along with the willingness to challenge yourself, and not your strength or intelligence, it the key to unlocking your potential.
